One of the oldest most indulgenced rosaries in the Church, the Brigittine rosary features 6 decades and is complete in it's 63 Hail Mary's unlike the Dominican rosary which is complete in 15 decades (5 decades x3).
Long considered the peasant's rosary, it has no "assigned" mysteries, it is left to the user to contemplate their favourite events in the Blessed Virgin's life of 63 years (thus the 63 Hail Mary's).
This Brigittine rosary features gorgeous translucent glass beads with blue hues like her bruises and splashes of crimson honoring her blood, and a beautiful color glass dome center of St Philomena in prison at prayer, and a lovely black enamel St Benedict medal crucifix!
St Philomena, virgin and martyr was tortured for refusing to marry an emperor who was already married. She was miraculously healed and tortured again the next day. Again our Lady came in the night to the prison and healed her, promising her a magnificent glory in heaven for her steadfastness. Finally the emperor had an anchor tied around her neck and drowned her in the river. She is the patroness and protector of children and virgins.
